well personally "for a noob especially" u will have less problems to deal w/ in soil...but if u must go hydro Y buy tha dro kit u suggested for $49.95 when u can go to walmart and get a 5gal bucket,aquarium air pump,air tubing & airstone for a total of like $22!! but u will also need 2 get net pots and hydroton (i just use perlite) 4 it.....and then u of course need lighting.....the more bubbles u can get it 2 produce the better!!!.....i use the liquid ph down and test kit but tha test strips work 2.....my tap water is @ a ph of like 8.5 so u wont need any ph up,only ph down......hid lighting puts out more lumens than led's but they will work......hope this helps u ...
