no its not harmful I know a lot of kids that do it that way because they are in college and only have one connection

how do i set up my laptop to be my "wireless" adapter i have verizon wireless on the laptop how can i set this up to be my connection?

I'm pretty sure there's a wire that you connect your computer and xbox and it uses whatever connection you have.

i prefer a cable over wireless because i dont get lag and its alot faster then wirless.

Sorry to be the one to break the news to u bro, but if u cant get dsl or cable internet in ur area then u are screwed. I looked into the satalite internet..... and even though the connection is super fast. It will not support these type of online games. I just went through the whole thing when i moved to south Georgia. Finally after calling my local phone company off the hook like 4 times a day they finally cleared it up. The setup they were using for internet in this area was from the early 90's. U should start by calling the company u get phone service from and ask if they offer internet. DSL through the phone line.
If they cant help u then u might have to move.lol
