There's an article in the newest high times how its a myth that marijuana causes schizophrenia. Very little is known about the association between marijuana and mental illness. Over decades of pot smoking we never find any evidence to support this theory. According to the largest study ever conducted comparing pot smoking and non-pot smoking schizophrenia patients, pot users showed no statistically significant difference in symptoms. Some studies have even shown how marijuana can help people with schizophrenia. German studies showed patients who used pot prior to their first schizophrenic episode showed improved cognitive performance on various tests compared to non-users. Over 50% of the population has tried marijuana and only 1% is recorded to have schizophrenia. You do the math.
