here in texas, atleast the part im in, we refer to everything pretty much as coke. like "hey you want a coke, yeah gimme a dr pepper"

The word pop comes to mind as i was in the east when i learned the word it always stuck with me.

Where I live this can turn into a heated debate... I grew up in the west calling it Soda, but now I live in the east in one of the few places in my state that calls it Pop. I still say Soda most of the time, but I'm being converted into a Pop guy. Talk about confusing though, not only do my kids have a bunch of toys that have "Soda" written on them (plastic bottles that look like the old glass Coke bottles), but if I drive out a ways from where I live (20 minutes or so in most directions), people call it Soda. Come back home and it's "Pop". Ack!

It's called soda here in these parts. I haven't heard the word pop in ages. I live in the northeast and here it is called soda.

I grew up saying 'coke' (in the South) but I've moved to where everyone calls it 'pop' now. I refuse to call it pop though. A 'pop' is what you get when you're a kid and you're in trouble, and I don't want a pop, I want a coke that's really a Dr. Pepper. It knows it's a Dr. Pepper, it doesn't need me to call it one.

Yeah, I grew up in Ohio and called it pop. Moved around a lot and down south they call it soda, and in Texas, it's true. Everything is a coke. Even when they mean Dr. pepper. Cause dr. pepper is made right fucking there.
