Default Driving while stoned

I still have lots of friends who drive while they are stoned. I would rather stay home and enjoy.
Am I the only one who doesn't drive after getting high?

Actually, I think you're the smartest one of your friends. I don't drive with an altered state happening, whether it's from smoke or drinks.

It depends on how high you get. If you are not a frequent smoker, smoking may impair your driving. My boyfriend smokes 247 so what is he suppose to do? Never drive??....... Before I said it's scary to see him sober and I realized that looked like it meant in driving, but I meant I actually feel more safe when he is high because I know he is more aware. EVERYONE is different. He has been smoking a lot for a long time now so it is way different.

Think for yourself. Question authority.

you're boyfriend smokes 247? so everytime he gets behind the wheel he's high? guys like you're boyfriend give guys that don't drive stoned a bad rep. and if he is a worse driver when not stoned, sounds like the 'never drive??' option is the best option.

No he's not a worse driver. I didn't say that. It's just scary when he's sober. He drives no different what so ever. People are effected differently by weed and the different types you smoke. I don't know how you are effect, but nothing like that changes for me or him. If anything I'd say he is 100% more careful when he is high.

Why would that give guys that don't drive high a bad rep??

I've seen a lot of people get high on a lot of different buds and sometimes I'd say people shouldn't drive. Not everyone in anyway though.

i replied to what you said. you said he scary when not high, so i replied to that. if you are going to go back and edit your replies, then anyone else reading the thread doesn't know exactly what was going on. so wem511, i did think, but the posts get changed along the way. if i read shadys current post, not the original, i may have said something else.
sorry to upset anyone.
maybe if original posts were kept and edited versions were posted as new, confusion would be kept down.

No I think thats my bad, no ones upset. I did edit my first message, but I thought I clearly stated I had said before it was scary then changed my mind.

So I did say that at first, but then realized I implied something by mistake.

I agree with Shady.....everyone is different both physically and mentally....I was always a "better" (i.e more alert) driver when high on pot.
When I was a cook, years ago, in some places I would sneak out and get high before the service....this enabled me to "work smarter"...believe it or not.
I was more in tune with my body and the work was smooth and coordinated. Same as with driving for me.

I dont drive unless something drastic comes up while i am stoned. Its got to be like the end of the earth for me to drive.

Have I driven stoned?, yes, many many times. Have I gotten into an accident driving stoned?, yes, once

(I tapped someone's bumper at a stop sign) and yes, my kids were in the car.

I used to smoke while driving as well. NO MORE That happened eight years ago and I have been sober 100% while driving ever since.

I haven't driven high since I went for a drive with no pants and got pulled over 2 blocks from my house. That was the only time I ever drove high too. I took that as a sign that I just didn't need to be driving high. I just didn't want to get pulled over again with no pants on and go to jail pantless. *smdh*

Studies have never been done about how being stoned affects your driving, but, there was a report once and it was pretty cool...
It was actually done in England, who else but the british lol, and on a regular network. They grabbed a guy and had him do a bunch of tests around a circuit. Like stopping, going around cones, parallel parking all that stuff. I don't remember how they measured it, if by reaction times or what not, but then they gave him a joint, and had him do all the tests again. It turns out he did better after smoking. When they asked him why he thought he did better, he said because since he was high he was actually making more of an effort to pay attention to what he was doing.
So who knows. But like people say, everyone gets affected differently. I can drive high, but I have friends who there's no way in hell I'd let them drive when they get stoned.

I drive more when I'm high, the only times I've ever gotten in a wreck or flipped or rolled was when I'm sober. Being high makes you so much more aware of your driving and whats around you. But yeah it is different for everybody.

I definitely agree. I concentrate better when I'm smoking or am high. Since I don't want to get pulled over by the po, I'm also a lot more careful and I drive the speed limit. I also do smoke pretty often so it's really not that big of a deal. I'm hardly ever sober completely in a day.
