Marijuana March '08

I went to the Marijuana March 08 in NYC today and it was fucking awesome! We all marched down 1st avenue with our signs shouting to passer bys that "we smoke pot" ,"the pope smokes dope", "what do we want? MARIJUANA. when do we want it? NOW!", and countless other cheers. I marched with the world today because I am a proud stoner and it's sad that we have to break a law and live in fear every time we light up. There was at least 100 of us maybe even 200 -300 and there was at least 20 - 30 cops, sadly. The cops marched along side us, even so you could smell the reefer flowing through the air. We marched all the way to the United Nations where we gathered to hear speakers and musicians. The crowd poured into this small circle where we all basically huddled together lighting blunts and Js while the cops were completely surrounding us. Some may say thats stupid, but I knew we all did it because we had to. You can't say I'm a proud stoner and be afraid to light up. It was about 10 minutes to 4:20 when everyone was holding there shit ready to spark it when they sent in the narcs... It was obvious and we all knew. We quickly spread the word and everyone pointed out the narc with their shouts of "NARC NARC YO YO NARC!" Everyone backed away and of course the cop just stood there looking like an idiot and pissed as all hell. I had said to Death Cabbage right before that that they were going to wait till 420 to arrest us all. But we all smartened up, put our buds away, and listened to the speakers. There was a cancer patient on stage speaking and the cops spotted one lone smoker in front of the crowd. They snuck up, grabbed him, and pulled him away. The crowd went wild with cheers of "dirty pigs!" and "let him go!" They didn't but this was all caught on camera which I'm sure you can find on youtube or something. After some one was arrested I wasn't staying because I had plenty for them to arrest me for. It sucks pigs had to ruin it all, but I marched and thats what mattered to me.

One random thing from today.. If you've ever been to NYC then you know that the metro cards are yellow with blue writing and always have been. But I bought one on the way to the march and it was green! Coincidence?? I think not!

Awesome. Dude what you did took guts and you should be proud. I for one think its great to see someone stand up for the things they believe in.

hell yeah! the march was awesome!! damn pigs always gotta ruin everything but even still, AWESOME DAY FOR MARIJUANA!

May 3rd 2008, Olympia, WA. Number of Pot Marchers: 856. My buddy Raven and his GF and myself joined 853 other stoners on a march from The Govenors Mansion all the way to the Capitol Building of Olympia. Where we joined a small stage with a few speakers including the head of WA's NORML chapter. and at 420 we all indeed did light up. there were too many of us for the cops to do anything, the cops were just there to make sure we were peacefull.

im sorry to hear you couldnt light up shady and awesome experience.

800 something people thats nuts. I wish that many people showed up here. I mean its NY where are all the pot heads at?? Well I'm glad you marched too man.

Hell Yeah, and i just found out in seattle they had 400. so a total of 1,200+ in western washington not including spokane. WA loves the weed. 88% of WA thinks pot should be decriminalised.

I do too. it sucks other states gov's dont have common sense. Its a failed prohibition and WA realises it.
